When people put on their jeans and tee-shirts, they probably don’t think about what went into making their clothes, much less what went into making the seeds that grow the fiber that is the raw material for their clothes. For hundreds, even thousands of years, there was no “making” of seeds, only “selecting” seeds from plants that had desirable traits. Now, intensive R&D is part of the science and business of cotton breeding; technology is an integral part of cotton before it is even planted.
